Albert T. Sheldon, Jr. PhD

Albert T. Sheldon, Ph.D., is president of A.T. Sheldon Consulting Services, LLC. Previously, he worked for the FDA for 32 years in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, Division of Anti-infective Products (DAIP) as a microbiology review officer, microbiology team leader and supervisor. Sheldon was instrumental in developing the requirements and refining the study designs and methods for the assessment of antiseptic drug products which are published in the FDA Federal Register Notice titled “Tentative Final Monograph for Health Care Antiseptic Drug Products; Proposed Rule.” He served as liaison between the FDA and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (formerly NCCLS). He is a member of the ASTM. Shelton graduated from the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, George Washington University with a Ph.D. in genetics. His undergraduate and master degrees in microbiology were obtained from the New Mexico Highlands University.
